NedTrain wins NSB refurbishment contract
NORWAY: National passenger operator NSB has awarded the NedTrain subsidiary of Dutch national operator NS a contract to undertake the mid-life overhaul of its 20 Class 73 inter-city electric multiple-units.
This will include interior and exterior refurbishment and the installation of a new passenger information system on the four-car trainsets, which were supplied in 1999-2002 and are deployed on services from Oslo to Trondheim, Bergen, Stavanger and Göteborg.
The work is to be undertaken at NedTrain’s Haarlem workshops, with the first trainset due to arrive in the Netherlands this month. Following refurbishment it is due to be tested later this year, before work on the rest of the fleet begins in 2015.
'This contract is a great step for NedTrain in the export market', said NedTrain Chief Executive Michiel van Roozendaal.
